Chapter 1
Jack Crandall never did have what some would call a happy childhood.
His role in the family was to be the only bond that kept his parents together within a relationship built on lies and mistrust, a witness to the extent of hate and violence that some can have to each other, cries of agony was his only lullabies.
At a point in his life things took a major downfall when his mother was caught victim to the inevitable end such an environment can cause, from then on he spent the next few years in foster care and moving from school to school grasping on to a education.
Although having such a life he has a fulltime education in the University of Bangor and many friends that he has grown to consider as the family he should had have.

As summer looms ever closer every student has one concept in mind, the summer holidays, and this was a major thought in Jacks mind, all year he has planned for him and his closest friend to spend time in his uncle’s old holiday house to escape the stress of assignments and exams.
As jack starts packing away his belongings Louis and Gage like all excited teens fool around while packing.
‘’All right Gage I bet if you cant catch this you have to clean my dorm for a month’’
‘’ Your on you son of biscuit’’ Louis Yelled.
Gage threw the ball across the room, it was the kind of thing you would see on ESPN, but then again he was studying sport and fitness and was top of the class.
But sadly Louis Could not grasp the ball within his hand and sealed his fate for the next month.
‘’Maybe you can practice grabbing things by picking up the broom looser’’ Gage Smirked.
‘’How was I suppose to catch that’’ Louis asked
‘’Maybe you should practice more’’
‘’Could you two give it a rest’’ Jack yelled in a frustrated tone
‘’Liz will be here in a few minutes to pick us up and you two aren’t even packed, hurry up’’.
10 minutes later there was a scene of the 3 running down the main stars into the car,
‘’All right boys let the summer begin’’ Said Jack with Excitement in his eyes….
Chapter 2
‘’So you guys set?’’ said Liz
The Reaction was like three excited kids on there way to Disney land.
Along the way Jack gazed out onto the trees and mountains and was overcome with a sense of peace and serenity, he felt like he could stare off into the wilderness for an age and still not get tired of it.
The forest reminded him of the times he use to visit his uncle with his mother, he would spend the weekend fishing away in the nearby lake sometimes not getting a single bite, but the sun on his face and the coolness of the lake was better than any fish he could catch.
Sadly his uncle fell ill, and left him unable to look after himself and left his house to be used by his close friends and family.
After some time they came up towards the house, it had not changed one bit, it was the same mental painting Jack had from his childhood.
‘’Now there’s a house that makes you feel like a bum in a box on the streets’’
‘’Im with you on that one gate, she’s a beauty’’ replied Liz
‘’And she’s all ours for the summer’’ Said Louis with a smile wider than the Grand Canyon.
As the four walked up and into the house there eyes widened with wander at the grandness of the house.
‘’Dibs on the living room’’ Yelled Louis
‘’Wow this room is huge; you could Play Wario in here and still have some grace left’’ Joked Gage
‘’Ah gate always the joker’’ thought Jack to himself……
Chapter 3
Jack Crept up the stairs, each step was answered with a creek in the wood flooring, although the house was grand it had not heard voices in years and was in desperate need of some dusting.
Jack made his way into a small room, this was the room he use to spend his time in as a small child, it would seem it had not been changed one bit, as we wandered around the room he came across a stuffed bear, it was a old and it seemed time was not kind to it.
It's fur was falling off and stitching coming loose, but most noticeable was it’s right ear was missing, at first glance he did not recognize it, perhaps it had belong to another person…..but he was the only child who visited this house and his uncle never had children.
In any case Jack did not take any heed, his mind was more set on where would be better to put his coats and pictures.
Jack heard a voice over his shoulders.
‘’Hey Jack me and Gage are going to look for firewood and Liz is cleaning, so you my friend can Make us grub’’
‘’Hi Louis, Fine ill pop down to the store later’’
* * *
Later that evening Jack got back from the store to find Gage and Louis playing games as usual, Liz was over in the kitchen it seemed like there was food in the house after all.
‘’Where did you find the food? ’’Asked Jack in confusion
‘’Gage Found a Stash down in the Cellar, I would imagine the caretaker would had something to do with it’’
‘’But there is No Caretaker’’……..
Chapter 4
Two weeks had passed since they had moved in, so by that time they had got the place suited to there self’s the living room was a sight of dirty socks beer cans and wiimote holes, in every bedroom you would be welcomed by the thick smell of alcohol and the house was alive with loud music.
‘’How about a good old game of Truth? ’’Liz Suggested.
‘’That’s such a girls game’’ Answered Louis.
‘’Scared Louis? ‘’ questioned Gage.
‘’like hell I am im up for it’’
‘’Poor gullible Louis’’ Jack though to himself as he observed from the opposite end.
‘’You in Jack? ‘’ Shouted Gage across the room.
Jack somewhat hesitated to answer, he was always the kind that kept to himself, and definitely wasn’t one for such party games.
‘’Well jack? ’’
Jack was still wandering what to do, but eventually he answered and joined in to the fun.
‘’Ok Liz first, who’s your crush? ’’ Asked Gage
Liz face blushed.
‘’Harry‘’ she answered
‘’Harry ?, nerd from Maine? ‘’ laughed Louis
‘’ Shut up you jerk, what about you eh? ‘’
‘’Me ? I don’t do crushes im a lone wolf’’ Louis said proudly
‘’ Your so full of yourself’’ Liz said
‘’ Ok then Jack’s turn, who do you like more you mum or your dad? ‘’
Jack felt very awkward, he was not one to talk about his past, in fact he hadn’t mentioned anything about his childhood.
‘’ Ill Have to pass ‘’
‘’ Oh come on you can’t pass ’’
‘’ Let him pass, it was a lousy question anyway ‘’ interrupted Louis.
As the night went on the four winded up in a drunken crazy, Louis was far away on the Pc making meaningless projects like a myspace account for Zeus, while Liz was fast asleep on the couch and gage playing around with his video games, while Jack was finding some strength to stand up.
‘’ Go to bed Jack ‘’ Suggested Louis
‘’ Good Idea ’’ agreed jack.
Jack tried to walk up the stairs but waving left and right as if in a game of pong, eventually he got into the room and fell down on his bed, as Jack was lying there, consumed with alcohol slowly falling asleep, one word came into his mind ‘’Mother’’
Chapter 5
The next morning Jack was greeted with a hangover, the sound of birds out side sounded like the screams of a thousand death metal singers, as Jack sat up he felt a sharp pain going through his whole body, then he realised the awkward position he fell into last night.
He later started making way down the stairs, a foul stench was in the air, he could not put his finger on it, but he was repulsed by it, with the combination of his headache, he was at braking point to vomit all over, the more he got down stairs the smell grew thicker and thicker, as he got into the living room, it was all empty, infact Jack then considered he hadn’t seen anyone on the way down, he could see that the Pc was still on, he could see the screen saver of a oddly shaped bird dancing, Jack was curious of how Louis Project got along and clicked on the mouse, as the screensaver went Jack was Greeted With a Gruesome Sight, Instead of a myspace of Zeus, he saw was Louis, he was pale and lifeless and covered in blood, Jack was trying to convince himself ‘’He must had got bored with Zeus and made him look like he was dead, Dead jack that’s a funny idea for a profile’’ but he could not trick himself, he knew by the look in his eyes there was no soul left within that body.
Jack stepped back and in fear started yelling Louis name in hope for a reply, he ran all around the house hoping to find him but to no success.
Tired and out of breath he sat down on Louis Bed, there was no sing that he had slept in it last night, the sheets were straightened and no old socks in sight, Jacks mind was racing with paranoia and held his head, as he was thinking to himself he realized something in the room, the smell was at it’s strongest, he rushed to look under the bed and in the wardrobe but he found nothing, he stood there wandering where was that smell coming from, then he felt something on his fore head and put his hand up to feel, he looked at his palm and saw a red substance, he immediately looked up, and to his horror he found Louis, nailed and taped up it looked like he had been there all night, and there was no mistaking it that Louis was dead, Jack immediately ran out of the room closing the door behind, he crouched down pale all over thinking ‘’What’s going on? ‘’
Chapter 6
It was some time until Jack could gain control of the situation again, his thoughts now was too look for Gage and Liz (if they are still alive that is).
Jack rushed all-round the house and outside like a mad man looking for the two but to no success he tried calling there Mobiles (Cellphones) only to find the Phone lines were cut, this must had been recent since he was looking on a webpage not long ago...
A cold sweat ran down Jacks spine, he tried to think where else they could be.
He went to the front door and he thought maybe there in the forest?
He didn’t want to go at all but he knew he could not live with himself if he abandoned his friends like this so he set out into the woods.
As he travelled through the woods the light faded the deeper he went in, the floor was layered with the dead leaves of the trees, this was indeed a old forest with many tales, such a shame it could not tell them to the world (Or say where Gage and Liz were to that matter).
As the day grew short Jack slowly lost any hope in finding the two, it was nearing dark as the sky was brightly red. This reminded Jack of the bloody image of Louis, it was then Jack fell down crying over the loss of such a good friend, it would seem to him that he was not meant for friends or family, he felt that he brought all of this upon them and was to blame…
Jack then decided to give up such a hopeless cause, as he was nearing the edge of the forest something caught his eye, it was Liz’s Coat, she must had been through here as he picked it up something dropped out, it was a wrapped piece of paper, Jack opened it with curiosity it read;
‘’I would head back to the house if I was you, dark things lurk in the forest’’
Before Jack could think to himself his legs had already decided to run for the house, he ran toward the door like a mad man possessed, the fear fuelled his feet like an animal running from its prey, Jack then jumped through the door quickly closing the door after him, the night closely followed him it would seem he would have to have his whit’s about him to survive the night.
Chapter 8
Jack was determined try and keep himself sane in the situation, Louis and Gage were dead and Liz was no where to be found, chances were she must had suffered the same fate.
Jacks wandered around the basement trying to keep himself awake, down there he had no idea of what time it was, outside was still dark, only the light of the moon could be seen, as Jack looked outside he noticed the car, this was his only hope to escape from this place it was only a 10 min drive down to town where he could phone the police and bring this psycho to justice.
If Jack had any hope to get to the car he would have to be quick and careful not to run into the killer.
He made his way towards the door, he clenched the bat firmly and prepared for the worst.
Jack busted through the door and ran like the wind across the living room toward the front door, he struggled to get the lock open and made his way to the car, Liz always had a habit of keeping the doors open (probably since there wasn’t a house for miles) Like allot of people she kept a spare key in the sun blocker, Jack franticly looked for him, but it would seem it was not his day the key was missing and a little surprise was there, jack found a small not where the key would be, this time Jack wasted no time opening it.
‘’The key to catching a fish is to go out to the middle of the lake’’
Chapter 9
Jack sat back to think about this current situation, he knew it wasn’t safe to stay where he was, or to walk into the killers game, but as much as he thought to himself there was no way around it he would have to go….
So he walked over towards the woods, on the right there was a small path leading down the hill, it would be mighty hard to see in the dark for any person, but since Jack was accustomed to this place it was no hard work for him.
The path it’s self was muddy that night, there was a faint mist in the air covering all sight for jack all he could see was the worn down grass of the path he was walking on, it was quiet not a sound of a owl or cricket was to be heard, this of course made Jack worry deeply.
The more along the path he went he could see the end of the path leading to the lake, further on he saw a glimpse of the boat house, so he ran as fast as his feat could carry him.
As he reached the boat house he saw the door was open, he bravely wandered inside with no care of what would happen to him, on a boat keepers desk he saw the keys to the boat perfectly placed as if to be seen by him clearly.
As Jack made his way to the boat he noticed that one boat was missing it must be out in the lake, but who could possibly be in it, two suspects came to mind the first Was Liz and the Second could be the Murderer.
Jack later set out towards the middle of the lake, it was hard for him to see anything the mist was covering all of the lake, he knew he would have to sit back until it cleared a bit.
In that boat as he looked out towards the lake he could see something, it was a woman in white standing on the surface with arm out to welcome Jack, her face was hidden in mist, Jack immediately rowed more towards this strange figure, Why he did not know but he knew he must, the closer he got the more the figure resembled some one, It was his mother but the face was deeply hidden, as he come up towards the figure he could hear a faint echoed voice.
‘’You did well jack, Mommy’s proud’’
That very moment her face was made clear, the face was an un-natural site, it was the face of a zombie, and suddenly it gave off the most devilish scream that tore into Jacks frightened soul.
Chapter 10
Jack Woke up in a daze, we was still in the boat and must had dozed off, he had no idea what time it was let alone where, the fog was still as thick and was a hopeless cause to be able to find anything..
As he headed back he noticed something in the fog, it was a faint light of some sorts, so Jack made his way towards it as fast as he could.. It was the other boat but from afar he could see that it was empty, as he got to the boat there was a very large bag, eerily large. Beside it there was a video cassette.
What twisted clue is this now Jack though to himself.
So he tucked it away in his coat, he than made his way to look into the bag, it was now clear where Liz was, this bag was her coffin, she was dipping wet and white as snow, clutched in her fingers were the car keys, but Jack seemed to no longer care, in less than a day he had lost everything all he had was the clothes on his back and that cursed tape.
* * *
Jack Sat down in the Living room ready to see what was in this cursed tape, Luckily there was a old VHS in the house, Jack putted it in, Jack later sat down, the room was all dark the only light was the light from the TV glaring at his face, On the tape he could see someone walking down the stairs with the camera in hand, in the living room were Louis Liz And Gage doing exactly what they were doing before Jack went to bed.
‘’Hey’’ Louis Said To the person behind the camera, the film then seemed to go into static and Jack was greeted with a picture of the floor with sounds of stabbing in the background, Later he saw Gage cowering in the Shed, there was a violent sound of a chainsaw in the background, and yet again it forwarded to the figure placing whatever remains into the freezer.
Jacks mind was set on Revenge against this psychopath, what came next was Liz being drowned in the lake, and the body being put in the bag along the lake, All of his devious master Plan.
What came next was carved into Jacks mind For ever, as the camera turned towards the murders face, Jack was horrified by the familiar face….
It was the face he saw in the mirror every morning, it was his face covered in the blood of the ones closest to him, Jacks souls turned pale white with shock, he could not have done any of this couldn’t he?
After the death of his mother Jack‘s mental state became somewhat unstable, it must had been the memories of this old house that brought this beast inside him out..
Jack fell on the floor crying his soul out, but soon those cries were to turn into a maniacal laughter the sound only demons from the depth of hell could make, suddenly Jack ran towards the car and set the ignition, a Mad glare was in his eyes and a evil grin, as he drove down the road like a mad man in his mind he could hear and see the good times, memories of his family and friends laughter flowed in his mind, but these were soon followed with the screams and cries of his loved ones, a specific picture came to him, of his mother lying dead in the kitchen floor.
‘’Im coming mother’’ he said to himself.
Jack violently turned off road and drove into the river, and that was the end to Jacks Sad Life Knowing he was returning to arms of his caring mother.
